High Five

Building a culture of literacy so children can succeed.

Several youth-focused organizations launched an initiative in our community to build a culture of literacy.

Our three goals are to: Reduce the Summer Slide; Increase access to reading and learning materials; and create awareness of the child development needs for parents.

EVENT:

Reading Under the Lights (FREE, Open to the Public)

READING UNDER THE LIGHTS is a FREE event to kick-off summer learning.  Join other families to read under the lights of Mauer Football Field. Listen to stories at one of our six reading circles,
take photos with celebrity book characters, and more! FREE food and book give-a-way.

Friday, May 12, 2017; 6:30pm-8:30pm @ Mauer Fields (W. Bowman Rd. in Wooster, OH)

CALLS TO ACTION;

  • Join other families and attend Reading Under the Lights event on Friday May 12.
  • Volunteer
  • Give a HIGHFIVE and You Can Help Local Children Succeed in School. One HIGHFIVE= $5.

Our HIGHFIVE campaign will provided low-income kids with access to reading materials, and support summer learning activities.

 

  • 1 High Five provides one book and school supplies
  • 5 High Fives provides 4 hours of homework assistance

HIGHFIVE is a Wayne County initiative focused on giving kids what they need to succeed in school.
