  • American Red Cross: Canvassing-distributing education about smoke alarms. Cancelled
  • Brookdale Wooster: Conversations and/or activities with senior residents. FULL! Cancelled
  • Holly House: Office cleaning, supply rearranging, maintenance. FULL! Cancelled
  • People to People Ministries: Sorting clothes and food items. FULL! Cancelled
  • Salvation Army Wooster Corps: Cleaning and organizing Learning Zone. ONE MORE! Cancelled
  • Viola Startzman Clinic: Assisting with a mailing. FULL! Cancelled
  • Wooster Community Hospital: Various projects around the hospital. Cancelled
  • YMCA: Cleaning program center and other projects. Cancelled

  • Girls on the Run: Making tutus and headbands for a women's empowerment 5K (in Akron in spring). FAMILY-FRIENDLY FULL!
  • OHuddle: Paper flower making for Fairy Godmother Fundraiser on Feburary 22. FAMILY-FRIENDLY
  • OnEighty (in partnership with Care and Share): Art project involving paints and canvas. FULL!

Details

Some statistics from MLK 2018:  

  • 3,000 healthy snack items were donated by The College of Wooster to be donated to local schools and agencies.
  • 1,500 hygiene kits were assembled by The College of Wooster to be donated to local homeless shelters and health clinics.
  • 100 security blankets were created through Project Linus at The College of Wooster with staff and faculty working together.
  • 800 volunteer opportunities were created in the community and on The College of Wooster campus to support community efforts.
  • 18 local partners participated in MLK Day of Service to provide 35 volunteer opportunities.

Welcome to our newest partner, Ohio State Wooster Campus! This year, MLK Day of Service & Learning is more expansive and inclusive. 

We are working and learning side-by-side, as a community!

The second Monday of spring semester at The College of Wooster is MLK Day. 

Participating in MLK Day of Service has never been easier or bigger! 

United Way has organized over 350 volunteer opportunities at 13 local nonprofits and organizations. 

Follow each link below to Get Connected, United Way's volunteer matching site, where you will register to participate. 

All activities occur on Monday, January 21, 2019. 

There are COW on-campus opportunities at The College of Wooster and opportunities available in the community. All are welcome.

Family-friendly volunteering opportunities are: Girls on the Run and OHuddle on-campus at The College of Wooster.
