Some statistics from MLK 2017:  

  • 2,280 healthy snack items were donated by The College of Wooster to be donated to local schools and agencies.
  • 3,000 hygiene kits were assembled by The College of Wooster to be donated to local homeless shelters and health clinics.
  • 108 security blankets were created through Project Linus at The College of Wooster.
  • 800 art boxes were assembled for O'Huddle students at The College of Wooster.
  • 740+ volunteer opportunities were created in the community and on The College of Wooster campus to support community efforts.
  • 18 local partners participated in MLK Day of Service to provide 31 volunteer opportunities.

 

The first day of spring semester at The College of Wooster is MLK Day. 

Participating in MLK Day of Service has never been easier or bigger! United Way has organized 35 shifts of volunteer activities at 18 local nonprofits and organizations. More jobs will be added as they become available,

so please check back. Follow each link below to Get Connected, United Way's volunteer matching site, where you will register to participate. All activities occur on Monday, January 15, 2018. There are on-campus (students,

faculty, staff only) at The College of Wooster and off-campus opportunities available to everyone.

  1. Find your desired service opportunity from the list below and pick your shift.
  2. Register for your favorite volunteer opportunity through Get Connected.
  3. Sign-up for transportation to your volunteer site, if needed, please click HERE for students only.

Morning Shift: 10:30am-12:00pm

Off Campus (open to the community):

  • American Red Cross: Installing Fire Alarms in Various Locations FULL!
  • Brookdale: Conversations and/or activities with Senior Residents FULL!
  • Friendtique: Moving Christmas shop inventory, cleaning and organizing.
  • Learn ‘N Play: Deep Cleaning
  • Local Roots: Clean, Organize, Maintenance & Display
  • OneEighty: Maintenance Work in Residential Facility
  • People to People Ministries: Sorting clothes, shoes, food and books. FULL!
  • Salvation Army: Cleaning & Soup Kitchen (NOT AVAILABLE)
  • Viola Startzman Clinic: Clean & Organize FULL!
  • Wooster Community Hospital: Various Projects around the Hospital
  • YMCA (Mechanicsburg Location): Painting FULL!

​On Campus (students, staff, & faculty only):

  • Flex4Good: Sort, Count & Make Distribution Kits FULL!
  • Build Hygine Kits: Help Make Hygiene Kits

​Lunch Shift: 12:15 pm- 1:45 pm

On Campus (staff & faculty only):

Afternoon Shift: 1:45pm-3:15pm

Off Campus (open to the community):
